What's new in the 2024 Subaru Solterra?

Last year Subaru introduced the world to its new nameplate, which also happened to be its first-ever battery-electric vehicle. The 2023 Subaru Solterra quickly showed signs of success and the automaker has already made some adjustments to deliver even greater value to shoppers in the compact crossover EV segment. We thought we’d dive into what’s new in the 2024 Subaru Solterra to give you the quick overview so you know exactly what the newest version of the SUV has to offer. more Updated Features & Tech There weren’t a ton of changes, after all this is only the model’s second year in production, however the few changes that were implemented are pretty crucial and exciting. For example, the vehicle’s high-capacity lithium-ion battery has received engineering improvements that enhance its capabilities where fast charging is concerned. Unlike the previous iteration, you’ll now be able to get a charge from 10% to 80% in roughly 35 minutes. A charge indicator has also been added that displays the estimated time remaining to charge either to that 80% marker or all the way to 100%. In addition to this fantastic change to the battery pack, the legendary Subaru EyeSight suite has been upgraded with all-new advanced driver-assistive safety features. Two new technologies include Hands-Free Driving and DriverFocus Distraction Mitigation System. The former enables the vehicle to travel at speeds up to 25 miles per hour without your hands on the wheel, even through stop-and-go traffic. This is a huge benefit in high-traffic areas for sure, but can be beneficial anywhere. These two new technologies are joined by Active Lane Change Assist, Front Cross-Traffic Alert, Blind Spot Monitors, Rear Camera Detection with Pedestrian Warning, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control with Lane Tracing, Road Assist and more. In addition to what was already mentioned, a new heated steering wheel has been added to the Limited trim level and ventilated front seats have been made standard on the Touring trim. Most importantly, however, is that despite these improvements the starting price of each Solterra model has remained the same. Which 2024 Subaru models earned IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK honors?

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety is one of the most respected authorities on automotive safety in the industry. Each year they put new vehicles through a battery of crash tests and more to make sure that they’re up to the rigorous standards of the modern market. This year, the Institute implemented a new series of requirements where certain tests are concerned, making it more difficult than ever to achieve their coveted TOP SAFETY PICK and TOP SAFETY PICK+ honors. Despite the tougher criteria, four 2024 Subaru models earned those prestigious designations this year, so we couldn’t be prouder. more “We followed the tougher requirements we introduced last year with another major update to the award criteria in 2024. This year’s winners are true standouts, offering the highest level of protection for both vehicle occupants and other vulnerable road users.” - David Harkey, President, IIHS 2024 Subaru Winners For the second year in a row, the exciting new Subaru Solterra earned TOP SAFETY PICK honors from the IIHS. But if you think that’s impressive, it only gets better from there. The 2024 Subaru Outback and 2024 Subaru Impreza earned the same honor but for the 16th and 17th consecutive year respectively. Finally, the flagship 2024 Subaru Ascent earned the gold-star TOP SAFETY PICK+ designation, its seventh year in a row earning at least TSP. One more fun note, Subaru has earned more IIHS TSP+ awards than any other brand since 2013 with 71. New Criteria Let’s go over the new criteria so you know what was required for these vehicles to earn the honors that they did. Where the side crash test is concerned, a rating of good is required to earn either TSP or TSP+. In the past, acceptable was enough for TSP. The revised pedestrian front crash prevention evaluation now requires acceptable or good ratings to earn either designation. This new system replaces the previous day/night split tests, the latter of which wasn’t required for the lower tier TSP honor. The moderate front overlap test has been completely overhauled, adding a second dummy behind the driver. It now requires an acceptable or good rating to earn TSP+. Vehicles are still put through the original test, in which a good rating is required to earn TSP. Another change is that the driver- and passenger-side evaluations have been combined into a single rating, taking the lower of the two results. 2024 Subaru Solterra Trim Levels, Packages & Price

Last month we finally got a look at updates to the Subaru Solterra for the 2024 model year. What’s so exciting about the new model year where this vehicle is concerned is that it received several updates but no increase in price! So, with that in mind, it’s time for our last look at trim levels, packages & price for the current model year, this time for the 2024 Subaru Solterra. Check back soon for this information where the 2025 Subaru Forester is concerned. more Trim Level Base MSRP* Premium $44,995 Limited $48,495 Touring $51,995 *Base MSRP does not include $1,345 destination and delivery fees, which can vary depending on state As you can see, the Solterra doesn’t have a ton of options in terms of packages or drivetrains. You will get to choose from three great trim level options, however. You’ll notice the base trim level is called Premium, which goes to show just how much great content is packed into this vehicle even in its most basic form. Content and features only increase in value proportionally alongside the MSRP, so if you want the best the Subaru Solterra has to offer, you’ll definitely want to slide behind the wheel of a Touring model. What’s new for 2024? While we’re here, we might as well highlight those updates we mentioned. The most exciting improvement for the new model year is that the vehicle will be able to charge faster. To put it more specifically, the updated high-capacity lithium-ion battery is now capable of charging from 10% to 80% over the course of just 35 minutes or so. In addition to this, EyeSight is now standard across the board and several subtle features, like a heated steering wheel and ventilated front seats, have been added to the mix.
