2023 Subaru BRZ vs 2023 Mazda MX-5 Miata

Power & Performance
When it comes to power and performance, the Subaru BRZ is the clear victor. The BRZ is powered by a 2.4L 4-cylinder engine capable of generating up to 228 horsepower alongside 184 pound-feet of torque, whereas the Miata has a 2.0L 4-cylinder engine beneath its hood that can only muster 181 hp and 151 lb-ft. of torque. While that's nothing to sneeze at, it certainly doesn't come close to what the BRZ offers.

Space & Capacity
Furthermore, the MX-5 Miata from Mazda has a tendency to feel a lot more cramped than the BRZ. While the rear seat of the Subaru coupe is a tight squeeze, at least it can accommodate up to four people - the Miata only has two seats! As for trunk space, the BRZ offers up to 6.3 cubic feet whereas the Miata only provides 4.6 cu. ft. While both of these are small, obviously the extra near-two cu. ft. is a big difference.

EyeSight vs i-ACTIVSENSE
If you know anything about the Subaru brand, then you've surely heard of EyeSight Driver Assist Technology. This award-winning suite of advanced safety features is available in the BRZ on models equipped with the automatic transmission. In contrast, Mazda has its own suite of safety features called i-ACTIVSENSE, which features an Adaptive Front-Lighting System, High Beam Control, Lane Departure Warning System, Smart City Brake Support, Traffic Sign Recognition, Blind Spot Monitoring and Rear Cross Traffic Alert.

There are plenty of other aspects that come into effect with these two vehicles that we could drone on about for much longer, but these are some of the most crucial areas. For example, the BRZ isn't a convertible, so if that's a selling point for you it might not be a great fit. However, if you like its superior power, performance and space, then be sure to check out our inventory to see what's available.
